Since 2016, when the state health commissioner first declared the Virginia opioid crisis a public health emergency, state agencies and community-based organizations have responded, offering lifesaving resources to all Virginians. You can learn more about the opioid crisis here.

This declaration led to the creation of Curb The Crisis, a collaboration among these five Virginia agencies: Department of Health, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Department of Criminal Justice Services, Department of Health Professions, and Department of Social Services. Learn more about what these agencies are doing to curb the crisis in Virginia.

On its website you will find information about where to seek treatment for opioid misuse for yourself or a loved one. You will also find the latest research and data on this crisis.
